Persuasive Essay

Plastic Bags Should be Banned from supermarket/retail.

Do you want to live in a world full of pollution? I think that banning plastic bags from the supermarket/retail is a good idea because plastic bags pollute water and land. Another reason is that plastic bags are harmful to animals and that plastic never decompose.

Plastic bag pollutes water and land. You can see a lot of plastic bags tangled in trees, they also clog up gutters and drains that can cause sewage to overflow. An example of this is a river in the Philippines called the Pasig river. Some parts of it have been filled with so much plastic to the point that you can practically walk across it.

It's harmful to animals. Plastic bags are sometimes mistaken for food for some animals. Animals can also very easily get tangled by plastic or get caught by them sometimes. That causes them to be incapable of flying or eating; eventually, they will strangle and die.

Another reason to ban plastic bags is that they never decompose. Even after thousands of years plastic still does not decompose. Sometimes under the right condition plastic can break in smaller and smaller pieces called photodegrade, but it's not the same as decomposing.

In conclusion, plastic is bad. They cause pollution, they're harmful to animals, and they never decompose. There are better alternatives that we can use like recyclable bags or paper bags.

So yeah. SAVE THE TURTLES!

  3. Great post, Loishane! Your argument is organized and your points are developed. I like the rhetorical question, too.

Perhaps you could write more about the turtles during your essay so that we have a stronger connection to your final statement.
