Aswang

Image result for aswang

Aswang is an evil shape-shifting spirit in Philippine mythology. This creature originated back in the 16th century. Aswang is one of the scariest myths. Aswang likes to dine on fetus and small children. There are different types of aswang such as vampire aswang (manananggal aswang), waredog, and witch.  Surprisingly, aswang are able to feel emotions just like a normal person. During the day Aswangs still have some powers. Healing potions and casting spells are some of the powers that they have; they use them to help people in their town. Forced to hide their children, parents hide them before the sunset has finished. A person is able to turn into aswang if they chose to—you’re sick if you want that—by tying a fertilized chicken egg to their stomach. While women are sleeping, some of the aswang eat the baby inside her stomach. Aswang, one of the most famous Myths which came from the Philippines, has scared people for hundreds of years.

Maori and European Population changes in NZ.

1. What does the graph show us?
As the population of European people in New Zealand increased the population of Maori people decreased.

2. Why do you think the numbers of Maori change?
Because of the musket war that killed a lot of people and the new diseases that the European brought to New Zealand like STDs.

3. Why do you think the numbers of European changed?
I think it's because of the trading and some people found New Zealand a good place to live.

When I was a kid I woke up because there were people screaming on the road. When I was about to go to the
kitchen to get a drink, I saw a guy sitting there with a bloody hand. I ran back to my mums' room because I got
scared of him. Later on, I found out that that guy has just shot someone. I told my mum and my grandfather
about what I just saw and my grandfather told us to stay in our room just in case the guy is dangerous. We were
in our room for about an hour until the police came and they told us to get out of our house because the guy
there is armed.

Volcano

Mount Pinatubo

Mount Pinatubo is an active volcano located in Zambales Philippines. The height of the volcano before it erupted in 1991 is 1,745m and its current height is 1,485m. It erupted in 1991 after being dormant for 600 years. The volcano erupted again in 1992. The volcano erupted four times from June 12 to June 16, 1991, which released more than 20 million tons of debris into the stratosphere.

It killed 800 people and left around 50,000 people homeless. It affected around 215,00 acres of farmland and destroyed fishponds, river valleys, bridges, and villages. Volcanic ash silted river valleys, causing extensive flooding. The silting of river channels and trapping of rainwater in an area of 300 km2 that formed a lake called lake Pinatubo, now 10m deep. There are 500 structures permanently submerge under this lake including houses, churches, and schools. The 1991 eruptions are believed to be the major reason why temperatures dropped globally in 1993.
