On 27th of March we made hot cross buns. The students that I worked with are Tana and Anne. We are proud about how we well we worked together and how the food turn out. Next time we could improve the presentation.

On tuesday 20th of March we made cupcakes. The students I worked with are Nishnit, Henry and Anne. We were proud about how the cupcake turn out and next time we will improve the presentation.

Distillation - Separating a Solid Dissolved in a Liquid

Separating a Mixture using Distillation

Aim: To separate a solute from a solvent in a solution using distillation

Equipment: A solution of saltwater, conical flask, heatproof mat, a delivery tube and bung, Bunsen Burner, tripod, gauze mat, retort stand, boss head and clamp, boiling tube.

Method:

1. Set up the equipment as shown in the diagram.
2. Add approximately 50 ml of saltwater to your conical flask.
3. Light your Bunsen Burner. Open the air hole and gently push the Bunsen Burner under the tripod.
4. Heat the solution until most of the solvent has been evaporated.

1.What was Summer's initial reaction to August face? Why did they become friends?
She thinks that he was strange-looking kid. Summer become friends with August because she want to be friends with him and August is nice

2.Summer isn't in the popular group at school, why is she invited to Savanna's party?
She was invited to Savanna's party so that Savanna can tell Summer to stop hanging out with August and if she stop hanging out with August she can be part of Savanna's group, and she also tell her that Julian likes her.

3.How does Summer foster a relationship with August, in what ways is it beneficial for them both?
Summer is August friend and she would always sit with August during lunch.

4.Part 4 starts with quote "Now here is my secret. It's very simple. It is only with one's heart that one can see clearly. What is essential is invisible to the eye." What does it mean?
It means sometimes you don't mean to be mean and hurt someone but what you say can hurt someone even if you don't mean to hurt anyone with what you say or do.

5.What was Jack's initial reaction to Mr. Tushman's request to show August around school? What made Jack decide to say 'yes' to Mr. Tushman's request?
He was kind of shock on why Mr. Tushman pick him and he don't want to do it at first.

6.Friendship can be difficult. How does Jack feel about him and August becoming Ex-friends? How does he feel when he finds out why?
When Jack doesn't know why August is mad at him he was just ok with them not being friends. When Jack find out why August is mad at him he feel like he was so mean and stupid.

7.How was Jack provoked to punch Julian in the face? Explain why you think this was the right/wrong thing to do.
Jack punch Julian in the face because he was saying mean things about August. Jack punching Julian in the face is wrong even though Julian is saying mean things about August.

8.How did reading Jack's point of view change your perception of his character?
My opinion of Jack's character change after reading his point of view. I thought Jack would be nice to August just because Mr. Tushman talk to him but he ended up being a good friend to August.

9.Predict how you think Auggie will react to the new that Jack punched Julian. What effect will it have on their friendship? 
I think August will be shock but will probably a little happy about it. I think it will have a good effect on Jack and August friendship.

1.Discuss the motivations for Julian's mum to photoshop August out of the class photo and it's the message it sends to Julian.
Julian's mum photoshop August out of the class photo because when she show Julian's class photo to their relatives she wants their attention on Julian not on August.

2.What do you make of Mrs. Albans' statement that August is handicapped? Do you think she was correct when she said it places too much of a burden on the kids to befriend August?
I don't think that she was correct when she said that it place too much of burden on the kids to befriend with August.

3.Mrs Alban also thought that August shouldn't have been allowed into Beecher prep. Do you agree or disagree? Explain.
I disagree that August shouldn't been allowed into the Beecher prep. August having a deformed face doesn't mean he's any different to the other kid, he was just like the other kids in that school except that his face is deformed and he's even smarter than a lot of kids in that school.

4.How did Jack handle being frozen out by all the boys at Beecher prep?

5.Why was Justine nervous when he was going to meet Olivia's parent? How did it show? How did it work out?
Maybe because he's thinking too much about it.

6.Why does Justine greet the different members of the family in four different ways? Explain each greeting.
Justine greet the different members of the family in four different ways because they greet him in different ways. Olivia's dad shake his hand, her mom hugs him, he fist-punch Auggie and kiss olivia on the cheek.

7.In the bus stop chapter Justin told Julian and his friend to leave jack alone. Was this a good thing to do?
Yes, but Julian would have more interest on bullying Jack because on some people the more you tell them to spot the more they do thing that they are ask not to do.

8.In the chapter titled Bird, Via states that she is 'an awful person'. Why do you think she feels this way? Is she right?
Via feels like an awful person because she haven't told he parents about the show and she don't want August to come. If August come to the play she thinks that everyone will talk about him and she doesn't want them to know.

9.In what ways is part five different from the other parts of the book?
The sentence doesn't start in a capital letter, the part have a bad grammar and it doesn't have much punctuation.

Wonder - Pg. 81-117

Wonder

1. Explain how the point of view in Part 2 from that in Part 1? 
Part 2 is different because it is written different perspective. Part two is from Via's (August older sister) perspective. It is more about her experience with August's condition and her relationship with her family and friends.

Do they Match Up?
The parts don't match up August and Via go to different school and have different experiences in their life.

2. In at least a paragraph, describe the challenges Via might face being Auggie's sister?
There are many challenges that Via might face being Auggie's sister. One of the challenge that she might face is being judge when she is  out in public with August. Other challenges are feeling left out when August gets more attention from her parents, and them two being compared.

3.Via says "August is the Sun." Explain what she means and why she feels this way.
She is saying that August is the sun because everything revolved seems to around him, just like the sun in the solar system. He is the center of attention in Via's family.

4.Do you agree with Via that she and her parents have made a mistake by always trying to make August feel like he is normal? Is this a problem?
I don't agree that it is a mistake to make August feel he is normal. August doesn't look like other people, and not everyone will treat him normally because of his condition. August is still normal he just doesn't look like the same as everyone.

5.Why does Via go by Olivia at high school? How is Via finding high school?
Via goes by Olivia at school to keep her life at school at life at school separated. I think Via is finding high school hard so far because she lost he two best friend.

6.What are the odds if Via having a child that looks like August? Do you think these are good odds?
There is a 50% chance that she will pass on the defective gene on her child. It's not the best.

7.Explore the character Miranda. Why did she call August at the end of part two?
She call August to say hi, she also tell August that Via and her don't hang out as much anymore and she'd always love august like her little brother.

8.Describe Via as a character. Do you empathise with her?
She is August sister and she is very understanding and knows that her brother will have more attention from their family because of his condition.

9.What do you think will happen to August when he return to school?
August had cut off his Padawan braid.

Black Death

Black Death

The Black Death was one of the most devastating pandemics in human history, resulting in the deaths of an estimated 75 to 200 million people in Europe from 1347 to 1351. The black death came to Europe but the origins of the Black Death can be traced back to the Gobi Desert of Mongolia in the 1320s. This epidemic reached its zenith in the the years 1348 to 1350 though the disease never vanished entirely. It is widely believe that the cause of the of the black death was Bubonic plague. It was most likely carried by Oriental rat fleas living on the black rats that were regular passengers on merchant ships, spreading throughout the Mediterranean and Europe.

1. Star wars is one of Auggie's passion. Why do you think this is?
Because August likes space.

 Do you see any reasons for Auggie to identify with these characters, or to be aspire to be like them?
Some of the characters don't have normal looking face but they still do amazing stuff for galaxy.

2. What question did Julian ask August? 
Julian ask why does August have a tiny baird in the back of his hair and if it's like a padawan thing.

Why did August want to slide under the desk?
Maybe because he is shy.

 Explain why julian ask those questions?
 Probably because he is curious about why August have a braid in his hair.

3. Mr.Browne's September Precept was "When given a choice between being right or being kind, choose kind." do you agree with these Precept?
I agree that you should always be kind because kindness is important.

4. In chapter One to Ten, August is feeling mad with his mother but he's not sure why. Explain why do you think he was mad?
Because his mom keeps asking him question and he doesn't want to answer them.

5. August invited his whole class to hi birthday party but not many kids came. Why do you think they didn't go?
I think only few kids went to August birthday party because they don't really like Auggie and they don't want to touch him.

6. August says he has an 'Aversion' to getting his picture taken. What is an aversion?
Aversion mean a strong dislike or disinclination.

Why does Auggie have a an aversion to having his picture taken?
Maybe because he doesn't like the way how his face look and he don't want the picture as a reminder.

7. Why does no one want to touch August?
Nobody want to touch him because of the game that they made up called 'The plague' which is like the cheese touch in Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

 How do you think this make him feel?
It makes him feel alone.

8. Did your opinion of Jack Will change after August overheard him talking to julian?
Not really because kids can say things that they don't really mean to say.

9. Do you think August will go back to school? Predict what will happen next.
I know that he will come back to school because i've already read the book

What is migration?

Migration is when a people is moving to another country or continent and have a plan of settling, permanently or temporarily in that country. An  example of Migration is when me and my family move here to New Zealand from the Philippines.

She use a lot of different shapes and the layering of the art is great.

What can you take from your work and apply on your own work?

I could add more colours on my art.

1. What was August's one wish that he wanted?

He wish that he would have a normal face that no one would ever notice at all. He wish that he could walk down the street without people seeing him and doing that look away thing.

2.What do you think it is to be ordinary?

Being ordinary means being the same as everyone else.

 What make August extraordinary?

He doesn't have the same face as everyone.

3. How do people react when they see Auggie's face for the first time?

Kids run away screaming in playground and he get stared starred wherever he go.

4. August's Dad said 'sending Auggie to school is like sending a lamb to a slaughter...' what does this mean?

It means that they are sending him off to a place where he won't be safe from other people's judgement anymore.

5. Would you send August to school if you were his mom/dad?

I would send him to school because that is how he would learn how to deal with people.

6. What white lie did August's mom tell? 
She said she was giving him an iq test but it was an entrance exam for the school.

 Why did she do it?

Because he probably wouldn't agree if he knew it was an entrance exam.

 Are white lies ok to tell?

Yes, but it is still lying.

7. August said he liked Ms.Garcia when she wasn’t wearing her shiny smile, what is a shiny smile?

A fake smile.

8. How does Auggie know the first time he meets Julian that he is a bully?

By Julian's behavior.

How did Julian bully Auggie?

He was teasing him and started the "plague".

How did Auggie respond?

He made his own group of friends which include Jack Will and Summer.
